FACT: God is Legit

FACT: God is legit

Tonight at Simple we had the privilege of having the girls from the Patrick Henry Girls Home join us at onetwentyone for Simple (the wednesday night student worship service). We had a good number tonight between 25-30 students. This means that since september the students showing up for Simple has doubled. Cool right? (I'm hesitant to say all of that because I don't want to be THAT guy. I don't even have to expound on who THAT guy is because you definitely know what I mean by it.)

Now this is the cool part. Just a few minutes ago I can to a shocking and awesome revelation. First I realized that our music isn't too good (I can say that, I'm the worship leader), Josh and I aren't Andy Stanley or Louie Giglio when it comes to giving a sermon, and even the games are pretty silly and just ridiculous. I know you're asking yourself, "so what you getting at Ethan?". What I'm getting at is that logically this shouldn't be happening. But then like a ton of bricks I realize that it is God who is making this work. There is absolutely no other reason that this thing happening every Wednesday could be doing any type of growing if it wasn't for God doing it himself.

So I said all that so that I could reiterate my first point. God is legit.

First Day on the Job

This morning I got up, made some coffee, and drove to work for my very first day in the office at Trinity. I later realized that I had forgotten to pack my lunch so I'll prob be heading to McDonald's sometime soon. But thats beside the point.

Tonight we will be having Simple, which is our weekly student worship service on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. Along with leading worship musically I will be teaching tonight as I wrap my series Worship: Our Response.

Please be sure to pray specifically for the service tonight and that I can communicate how we can best respond to a Holy God through the many avenues of worship.

Once again thank you all for your support of this ministry.

First day back in the Burg

And so begins the adventure that is summer 2009. Pretty much everything I own is now in the house and I am currently unpacking (this is merely a break from that). I am living in the left side of the house (seen right) with three other guys who are students at Liberty.
I am staying in Lynchburg, Va this summer in order to intern for the student ministry, onetwentyone, of Trinity Baptist Church in Bedford, Va. This internship is on of the reasons that I am making this blog. For those of you who are supporting me financially this summer I want you to be able to see what is happening in my life and more importantly the ministry for which you are funding me to work at.
I hope to be uploading this every other day or so and it will be chock full of news about our events and everything that will be happening in and around the onetwentyone community. Check back a few times a week to stay better informed.
Once again for those of you who are helping out with the finances thank you so much and for those of you who are not yet or who are choosing not to please choose to support us with your prayers.

p.s. Next post will include a more in-depth look at what onetwentyone is and what we hope to accomplish this summer.
